I Challenged My AI Clone to Replace Me for 24 Hours.
New AI voice and video tools can look and sound like you. But can they fool your family or bank?
WSJ’s Joanna Stern replaced herself with her AI twin for the day and put “her” through a series of challenges, including creating a TikTok, making video calls and testing her bank’s voice biometric system.
Recently, the Wall Street Journal’s Joanna Stern decided to challenge herself by creating an AI twin and having her take on her day-to-day tasks. The experiment was to see if her AI twin could do the same tasks as her, with the same level of success.
To start, Joanna had her AI twin create a TikTok video. After that, Joanna had her AI twin make video calls to family and friends. Joanna was impressed with her AI twin’s ability to carry on a conversation and interact with people, but it failed to pass the human test.
Finally, Joanna tested her AI twin’s ability to use her bank’s voice biometric system. This system uses voice recognition technology to authenticate customers. Joanna was surprised to find that her AI twin was able to successfully complete the authentication process.
Overall, Joanna found that her AI twin was capable of successfully completing some of her daily tasks. This experiment shows that AI technology is becoming increasingly sophisticated and soon it can be used to help us with our day-to-day tasks.
