Canada to establish cyber security program alongside US to protect defence supply chain.
Defence Minister Anita Anand announced at Canada’s Global Defence and Security Trade Show (CANSEC) that Canada would be partnering with the U.S. on establishing a cyber security certification program for defence contractors.
Under the program, contractors would only need to be certified under a single entity, Anand said. Anand also announced that where possible, Canada “would work with Indigenous and Northern governments to bring benefit from our investment.”
She also announced the launch of the new National Defence Indigenous Reconciliation program, which Anand says will help build and broaden relationships across Canada.
“This program will provide up to $1.5 million a year for the next four years for projects that incorporate the expertise and traditional knowledge of Indigenous communities across Canada,” the defence minister said.
