Forced to Scam Chinese Cyber Slaves in Northern Myanmar.
For every year cyber-scam operations are stealing tens of billions of dollars from victims around the world few realise the use of Chinese cyber slaves.
In area like Northern Myanmar, young Chinese are enslaved, tortured and forced to scam, they were tempted to sneak across the border and come here, some hoping for a quick buck, then they will be punished if the task is not completed or an attempt to escape.
The Dark Reality of Chinese People Trafficking in Northern Myanmar
China and Myanmar share a long-standing border, and it has been a gateway for many Chinese people who have been trafficked into Myanmar. Unfortunately, in the more remote areas of northern Myanmar, the problem of Chinese people being enslaved, tortured and forced to scam is particularly acute.
Young Chinese people, especially those from impoverished backgrounds, are particularly vulnerable to traffickers who promise them lucrative jobs in Myanmar. But upon arrival, these people are often met with violence and exploitation. They are forced to work, and they are subject to extreme physical and psychological abuse.
In some cases, Chinese people are also coerced into taking part in illegal activities such as phone scams. They are promised money for completing the tasks, but if they fail or attempt to escape, they are punished. This is a particularly cruel form of exploitation because it preys on the desperate economic situation of many young Chinese people.
The Chinese people trafficking industry in Myanmar is a shocking reminder of the human cost of globalisation. It is a blight on the international community and must be addressed as a matter of urgency. Governments must work together to tackle the root causes of trafficking, such as poverty and lack of economic opportunity in China, and to ensure that those who are trafficked receive the justice and support that they deserve.
This is an issue that cannot be ignored, and it is one that must be tackled head-on. No one should be subject to slavery or exploitation, and the fight against human trafficking must start now.
