Four million Australian’s data at risk in Medibank hack.

The cyber criminals responsible for the Medibank data breach have claimed that they have 200 gigabytes of personal data, including customer names, addresses, dates of birth, phone numbers, policy details and medical procedures have been exposed, affecting four million Australians.

The news on the Medibank hacking attack looks increasingly grim. The health insurance giant has confirmed customers sensitive medical data is now in the hands of criminals. The hackers are demanding a ransom, and if it’s not paid, they’re threatening to release a huge amount of private medical information on the dark web.

Home Affairs Minister Clare O’Neil says authorities are still unravelling the Medibank data breach that has put the private data of millions of Australians at risk, but she clarified that private medical records could well be exposed.
