Australia and Foreign Hackers

Pretty alarming Australian universities may be unknowingly training foreign hackers.

Cyber security experts are warning Australian universities may be unknowingly arming our adversaries with hacking skills by training foreign hackers.

They say partnerships with Chinese institutions are undermining efforts to bolster cyber security and leaving Australian banks and other infrastructure vulnerable to attacks.

Shadow Cyber Security James Paterson says a number of Australian institutions have partner relationships with equivalent Chinese institutions where they’re teaching students “offensive cyber hacking techniques and tactics”.

“This is pretty alarming given the national security and cyber environment,” Mr Paterson told Sky News Australia.
