It appears that a significant health data breach has hit lawmakers and their staffers on Capitol Hill. The breach occurred at the health insurance marketplace for Washington, D.C. called DC Health Link.
The exact number of people affected is not clear, but it is believed to have affected lawmakers, staffers, and their family members and is being investigated by the FBI as well as the U.S. Capitol Police.
A broker on an online crime forum claimed to have records on 170,000 DC Health Link customers and was offering them for sale.
