Procter and Gamble Ransomware

Cyber thieves swipe worker information following a ransomware attack at Cincinnati-based Procter and Gamble.

Proctor and Gamble have been impacted by ransomware attacks launched by hackers who exploited an external data transfer tool.

Hackers exploited a bug in a data transfer tool called GoAnywhere and launched a huge ransomware attack. This is a Russian group doing it. This specific group sell ransomware as a service.

They sell their software for the bad guys to take that software and use it to gain money.P&G has not indicated if it’s paid the hackers any money to retrieve information that was stolen from workers.

The company said at this point, there’s no indication the cyber thieves took any customer data.

P&G also said the data obtained from their workers did not include things like social security numbers, credit card details or bank account information.
