UK bans TikTok on Government phones for cyber hygiene, Cabinet Office minister Oliver Dowden announces that TikTok has been banned from Government phones after a security review but clarifies that ministers and officials will still be able to use the Chinese-owned app on their personal phones.
The UK government has banned the use of TikTok on government phones citing concerns about cybersecurity and has described the move as “good cyber hygiene”.
This ban would also limit the use of third-party apps on government devices to a pre-approved list to reduce security risks.
This ban is similar to the actions taken by the US government, which has also banned TikTok on government-issued devices.
