Warning about new phone scam.
When it comes to a phone scam, it pays to be vigilant. Recently, there has been a new phone scam circulating where scammers are using a victim’s ‘yes’ as a way to record them saying it.
The scam works by having a scammer contact a victim via phone and ask them a series of questions. As they do so, they are recording the person’s answers. If the person answers a question with ‘yes,’ that answer is then recorded. The scammer then uses this recording to make it sound like the person has agreed to terms and conditions, or even worse, given the scammer permission to access their bank account.
It’s important to be aware of this scam and to never answer any questions via phone with a ‘yes.’ If you receive a call from an unknown number, it’s best to hang up and not answer any questions. If you do answer, it’s important to not say ‘yes’ to any questions, even if the scammer is trying to pressure you into doing so.
In addition, it’s also important to be aware of other phone scams. Some scammers may call victims and ask for their personal information or bank account details. It’s important to never give out this information, as doing so can result in identity theft and financial losses.
By being aware of new phone scams, such as this one, and other common scams, victims can protect themselves from becoming victims of fraud.
